Damsel in Distress…..again?

October 20, 2006 · Leave a Comment

It all started this morning, when I overslept my alarm and woke up suddenly at 7 am. I have to leave by 7:15  so that I can get to the place where I am babysitting this week (he’s super cute, but I forgot to bring my camera all week). Everything went smoothly there.

But then I left at 2:15ish and was on my way to the Titusville library. I have never been to this library before so I had no idea where I was going. The mother of  the child that I was to be tutoring called me and gave me what I thought were helpful directions. Nope. I was going the wrong way. So I turned around and went the other way way too far, and turned around again. After much clearer directions I finally got there at 3:30. (my left arm is tan-no A/C in my car and its a day of record high heat for this time of the year ) I gave my sincerest appologies for being so late and directionally challenged, and got right to tutoring her son. I walk out of the library and to my UTTER DISMAY…………. I have 1 and 1/2 FLAT TIRES! One was completely flat and the other was flat enough that I couldn’t drive home with it (Oh T-Ville is like 30ish minutes from my house). I first call the next person that I had to tutor (I had to be back in Merritt Island to tutor at 5. But that was not gonna happen). Then I start calling people- brothers, parents, brother’s friends, friends, and anyone in my phone. NO ONE was answering Then my one bro calls me back and tells me that Dad, Mom, Daniel, and him are in ORLANDO “What am I going to do?? ” I thought to myself. I keep calling and calling and calling my older bro’s cell phone and  the house phone. But I get no answer. Finally, after already being there for an hour…..Zach calls (the middle bro in Orlando) and tells me that Tommy is on the way! I call him and give him directions to the library (it’s in a weird location). He just shakes his head (this is the 2nd time that he had to rescue me). We get the tires all taken care of and finally get home at about 8:30ish.

I did learn something in all of this mess. I learned about people. And their willingness or lack thereof to help a stranger in need. When I noticed my flat tires the library parking lot was FULL. I saw people come out to their cars, look at me and drive off. One creepy guy asked me if I needed help. And later on a very nice girl pulled in and then left but then came back to ask if I needed help or anything. Where are the Good Samaratians?

If I see a girl with a flat tire, I am going to stop and ask if they need help. Now if it’s a guy…sorry guys I won’t stop ’cause that could get me into more trouble.

And that folks was my day. Have a great weekend everyone!

My Day…

May 17, 2006 · 1 Comment

Well today I had to go down to the police station to get a local background check aka a criminal search(I think that is what she called it). Oh this is all for my new job at La Petite Acadamy. Well I first had to go to the Clerk of the Circut and County Court for the background/criminal check. The lady was really nice and it went smoothly. She was like "You are not even in our system, AT ALL." I thought that was funny. I haven't had a ticket or anything in all my years driving. And of course not in trouble with the law for any reason. It cost me $10.50 to get that taken care of. The next stop was actually to La Petite to get the card that the fingerprints go on, and then it was back to the same place only the building next door. The police station. The lady in there scared me. Seriously. The guy was nice that did my fingerprints. It was kinda cool cause there was no ink involved, it was all done on a computer machine thing. And it printed the fingerprints right onto the card. Nifty. It cost me $5.00 to get that done. Then I began my quest to find an iced vanilla latte. I found it at Barnes and Noble. It was pretty tasty!
